Library September News

We are off to a great start in the library.  Students are checking out books and becoming accustomed to our new technology routine.  September we begin our center focused activities.  All students will work at centers except preschoolers.  These centers will focus on coding, applications, design thinking and library skills.  Students are using the design thinking process to develop a new name for our library space. Stay tuned for these results.

Spring is in full swing! To keep reading fresh and fun, try checking out ebooks from our SVVSD Digital Library.  They are automatically returned after 14 days and there are hundreds of titles meant for primary and secondary student readers.  You can access the books by following the steps below.

March Greetings from the Library!

Thank you to all Fall River families for their participation in the Book Exchange. What a great way to get books into kids' hands! I look forward to next year.  All remaining books will be donated to a local children’s hospital or clinic.

Library February News

February Greetings from the Library,

Mark your calendars for Fall River’s 3rd Annual Book Exchange during February teacher conferences.  Please bring your used books to the Fall River lobby and place them in the bin labeled “Book Exchange Donations.”  During conference nights, just wander through the library and scoop up some new books for your home libraries. All Book Exchange books will be clearly marked on library tables.  Bags will be provided. The goal is to get books in your children’s hands and encourage reading. Its FREE and its FUN!

Season’s Readings from the Library!
Get ready for the Fall River Book Exchange coming in February. This will take place
during Spring Parent Teacher Conferences. You do not have to contribute books to
participate. Just come and pick out books that your students would like to take home, no
limitations. If you would like to contribute to the Book Exchange start collecting books in
boxes now. Deliver your donations to school starting in January. Thank you!
Please try out the ebooks while you are on break, it’s free entertainment on any device!

November Greetings from the Library!

During conferences many parents asked me about Lexile identification with library books.  I would like to explain a little about Lexile and how we use it here in the library.  In an effort to empower students to find “good fit” books, we added Lexile color codes to Fall River Elementary library books.  This is an ongoing process but most Picture Books and Fiction Books have been Lexile color coded.
