Fall River Elementary Newsletter

Hello Fall River Fox Families,

The Fall River team has been working hard at raising the bar with our STEM learning experiences.  As I visit classrooms, I’ve noticed quite a bit of excitement across every grade level.  When kids engage in high level experiences to stretch their critical thinking skills, their confidence develops.  This is because they have an authentic place to practice and apply the skills they’ve been learning in Math, Reading and Writing.

Pictured here is our STEM coordinator, Stacy Trembly, with our brand new 3D printer.  Also, some of our 4th graders “making fossils”.

Once again, thank you for your support of Fall River through our Fox Trot.  This is how we make the magic happen!

Onward and upward!

St. Vrain Preschool Literacy Night with Author Rosemary Wells, Tuesday Oct. 15

Preschool families in St. Vrain Valley Schools are invited to a special literacy night featuring renowned author Rosemary Wells on October 15 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m., at the Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools. Rosemary Wells, celebrated for her beloved characters like Max & Ruby, Noisy Nora, and Yoko, will read her book “If You Believe in Me,” which preschoolers have received as part of our early reading initiative. During the event, Rosemary will lead a discussion on the book’s themes, demonstrate her approach to character creation as the book’s illustrator, and sign students’ individual books. Students will participate in an art activity during a portion of the event, exploring different mediums similar to what Rosemary uses for her illustrations.

SVVSD DRONE SHOWS

On Thursday, October 10th, we are performing a drone show at Skyline High, around 7:00pm, at the halftime of the football game, which starts at six. We would like to invite the nearby feeder schools to attend. In addition to being a fantastic show for your students, parents, and the greater school community, the performance will expose students to exciting careers, areas of study, and opportunities they may not yet be aware of. We are excited to expose your students to how they might be able to get involved at the Innovation Center when they’re in high school.

The Innovation Center’s Drone Performance Team is the first high school student-led outdoor drone performance team in the world, and we are passionate about its potential impact on students across our district and beyond. We believe that younger students would greatly benefit  from early exposure to the many amazing opportunities available in our district, and would love to have students and families from your school attend the show! If you would like to come early to come see set up, you and any other staff or your families are absolutely welcome.

Mark your calendars for these dates to see the SVVSD Drone Show:

10/25 Frederick High School – Football Game Halftime

iPad Safety and Responsible Use

NO PASSCODE – We ask that elementary students not put a passcode on their school iPad.

PROTECTIVE CASE iPads remain in the provided case at all times.

RESTRICTIONS – SVVSD sets up restrictions on the student iPads to limit access to certain apps and content. (More information about the default restrictions can be found on the LTP website  iPad Restriction Settings.) The school may also set up additional restrictions as needed to assist in managing student use.

SCREEN TIME – Parents have the right and the ability to set up additional restrictions on your student’s iPad beyond what is set by the district. Information on how to do this can be found on the LTP Website Apple’s  Screen Time

PRIVACY Because the iPad belongs to SVVSD, we have the right to review the content at any time per Board Policy JS. Parents and guardians have the right to monitor their student’s use of the device. Students are expected to respect the privacy of others and not record, photograph, or share personal information of others without their permission.

RESPONSIBLE USE – School iPads are intended to be a tool for learning. Students are expected to abide by BOARD Policy JS and any rules set by the school, teacher, or parent while using the iPad. You are encouraged to set healthy limits for home use such as students using their iPad within sight of a trusted adult for an appropriate amount of time. Set boundaries, safeguards, and expectations for technology use at home that align with your family values.

LOST iPAD  If the device is lost or stolen, let the school know immediately and provide information to help recover the device if possible.

iPAD REPAIR and REPLACEMENT Students are responsible for taking care of the iPad and accessories. Report any broken or lost equipment to the teacher right away. Families may be responsible for the cost of repair or replacement. Repairs can only be facilitated through district processes. If you opt into the Insurance program and accidentally damage the iPad, SVVSD will provide a replacement as quickly as possible at no charge for a first incident. If you choose not to opt into the Insurance program, SVVSD will communicate a repair cost to you and provide a replacement. SVVSD provides students with a charging brick and cable. If this cable is lost or damaged, you are responsible for replacing it.

RETURNING iPADS – If you transfer to another school or leave the district, you are expected to return the iPad, case, charger, and charging cable in good condition.
