Fall River Elementary Newsletter

Now that the year is rolling, we are starting to see lots of parent volunteers. At Fall River we’ve been very fortunate over the years to have tons of parent volunteer support. If you are interested, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to see if there are any specific volunteer needs. You might also watch for your teacher’s newsletter; grade level newsletters will occasionally detail volunteer needs. You can also contact our PTO. They have volunteer options designated throughout the school-year.

If you happen to decide that you’d like to pitch in, be sure to complete your volunteer application form. Right now, I know we could use some volunteer time in the cafeteria during our lunch period. Please scroll down in today’s newsletter to find links and info for volunteer opportunities.

Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.

Onward and upward!

Gifted and Talented Referrals

Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic and/or talent areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress.  In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.

Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.

The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

100 Mile Club Logo

Do you have a kid with a little extra energy?  Have a child that starts their day slow and tired?  Do you have a student at Fall River that is in kindergarten to 5th grade?  If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, your child(ren) would be perfect for 100 Mile Club. 100 Mile Club is a team that focuses on getting some exercise in before school starts to help get students ready to learn.  Studies show that just a few minutes of being active can have a positive impact on mood and increase brain activity.  We meet every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 8:00 to 8:40 at the blue canopy on the back playground.  You do not need to show up every day and you don’t even need to be on time.  Our goal is to get students moving, whether that’s for the full 40 minutes or the last 10, because one lap is better than zero.  100 Mile Club will run from Tuesday, September 2nd through Monday, May 4th.  Please click on the link to sign your child(ren) up for 100 Mile Club.  We look forward to seeing you out there.

Important iPad Updates for the
2025–2026 School Year

St. Vrain’s District Technology Services has made several updates to student iPads for the upcoming school year to support a focused and secure digital learning environment both at school and at home. One key update is the implementation of a new internet filter, Securly, which adds an extra layer of protection to iPads by blocking certain types of websites.

For more information about these updates – and what they mean for your child’s device — please click here.
