Courage & Character
Now that the year is rolling, we are starting to see lots of parent volunteers. At Fall River we’ve been very fortunate over the years to have tons of parent volunteer support. If you are interested, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher to see if there are any specific volunteer needs. You might also watch for your teacher’s newsletter; grade level newsletters will occasionally detail volunteer needs. You can also contact our PTO. They have volunteer options designated throughout the school-year.
If you happen to decide that you’d like to pitch in, be sure to complete your volunteer application form. Right now, I know we could use some volunteer time in the cafeteria during our lunch period. Please scroll down in today’s newsletter to find links and info for volunteer opportunities.
Hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend.
Onward and upward!

Dear Parents,
I am excited to invite students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to participate in KidZing, our Fall River Elementary Choir. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to enhance their musical skills and experience the joy of making music together with their friends. KidZing will meet every Tuesday and Thursday from 8:10 to 8:40 a.m., starting on September 16th
The cost for this class is $60 ($30 reduced lunch rate) per student for the year, which includes a T-shirt. Space is limited, so please sign up by Friday, September 12th, using this link.
There will be two sessions during the school year. Please take note of the important dates:
- The Fall session runs from Tuesday, September 16th, to Thursday, December 11th. Our Winter concert will be held on Thursday, December 4th, at 6:00 p.m. at Fall River. Additionally, we will perform at Fall River’s Winterfest on Wednesday December 10th.
- The Spring session runs from Tuesday, February 10th, to Thursday, May 7th. Our Spring concert will take place on Tuesday, April 28th, at 6:00 p.m. at Vance Brand Auditorium (Skyline High School). We will also participate in the Skyline Music Festival on Saturday, May 9th (time TBA).

Important Message from the PTO
This year’s Fox Trot fun run will take place on Friday, September 19th. Every Fall River student gets a complimentary Fox Trot t-shirt. This includes Discovery Den, Preschool, and Kinder-5th graders. These t-shirts are used for our Fox Trot fun run, field trips, spirit days, and field days. PTO needs all student sizes submitted no later than Tuesday, August 26th in order to receive our t-shirts in time for our Fox Trot Fun Run. Click here to fill out the t-shirt form.
Thank you!
Fall River PTO
Note: If a size is not submitted by August 26th, your kiddo will still get a t-shirt. We just go up a size from what we think they would wear to guarantee their t-shirt will fit them.

Gifted and Talented Referrals
Each year, schools in St. Vrain Valley School District complete a process to identify students who demonstrate exceptional ability or performance in one or more academic and/or talent areas and may, therefore, qualify for Gifted/Talented educational services. These students usually perform at least two years above grade level in their strength area(s), and they require additional academic challenges in order to support their continued educational growth and progress. In addition, they usually demonstrate characteristics of unique creativity and high motivation in their strength areas.
Referrals are open through the month of September and will close on the last day of the month. Referrals after that date will be addressed on a case by case basis. Completing a referral guarantees a review of the student profile to determine if testing is recommended for the student. The process for identification requires a body of evidence and often takes place throughout the school year.
The process takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

Let’s work together for a safe and successful school year!

Do you have a kid with a little extra energy? Have a child that starts their day slow and tired? Do you have a student at Fall River that is in kindergarten to 5th grade? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, your child(ren) would be perfect for 100 Mile Club. 100 Mile Club is a team that focuses on getting some exercise in before school starts to help get students ready to learn. Studies show that just a few minutes of being active can have a positive impact on mood and increase brain activity. We meet every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings from 8:00 to 8:40 at the blue canopy on the back playground. You do not need to show up every day and you don’t even need to be on time. Our goal is to get students moving, whether that’s for the full 40 minutes or the last 10, because one lap is better than zero. 100 Mile Club will run from Tuesday, September 2nd through Monday, May 4th. Please click on the link to sign your child(ren) up for 100 Mile Club. We look forward to seeing you out there.
