Dear Fall River Families,
Do you have or know a kiddo ready for kindergarten next year? Do you have a friend hoping to open enroll a child at Fall River? Don’t forget—Open Enrollment for grades K-5 for the 2018-2019 school year AND Kindergarten Registration for the 2018-2019 school year are happening right now! Both application windows are open Dec 3 and close Dec 17. After that, applicants may be placed on a wait list. Please see our website for more information and materials.
Thank you to all of the Fall River Families who came out for our PBS Family Fun Night; we had outstanding attendance! Our KidZing Choir was amazing as always, the ice cream from PTO was delicious, and everyone seemed to have a great time on our PBS Scavenger Hunt. If you were not able to attend, please check out the PBS displays throughout the school the next time you are here volunteering; the students did an outstanding job on explaining how we ROCK our behavior at school, at home, and in the community!
You will be receiving notes home about our food drive, sponsored by Student Council. Our goal is to collect more food than any other elementary school in our district; last year we collected more than 4000 pounds of food and we’d like to beat that! Please consider contributing to this worthwhile drive as there are many families in need. You will once again see our “giving tree” in the lobby, where students and parents can drop off warm scarves, coats, hats, and other goodies. There will be lists on the tree that you may pull off, and take with you shopping. This too is such a worthwhile project, as countless people have benefited from your generosity every year. Thank you for your support with both of these community projects.
Electronic report cards will be available in December; we encourage you to contact school staff with any questions/concerns about your child’s progress or attendance. (Don’t forget you will not receive a paper report card unless you’ve filled out the necessary paperwork; if you need assistance logging in to the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please contact the office).
Please keep in mind that report cards align with rigorous state standards, and are intended to inform parents about student progress towards mastering standards. Please read the materials by clicking the link with the report card to better understand standards and how the report card aligns; you can also contact me or your child’s teacher with questions. Understanding school progress is critical to your child’s academic success, so I encourage you to take the time necessary to fully understand this reporting system.
Be sure to get your kiddos reading over the winter break and help us win $$ for our school with the Winter MyOn Reading Challenge…please see info on our website and in upcoming emails!
We have had a wonderful first trimester, and we are hopeful that over these upcoming holidays you will be able to share some relaxing moments with your children and families, along with celebrating all of your children’s hard work. Happy Holidays and thank you for having The Courage to Be Outstanding!
