STEM January News

Hello Fall River Families,

Students have been hard at work with Computer Science Education Week!  Students participated in the Learning Lab, as well as in classrooms.  Students have worked with binary numbers, tried Scratch and Scratch Jr. and got to work with Cubelets.  There were also unplugged experiences with patterns and algorithms.  Thanks to our volunteers, too!

The STEM student leadership team is creating signs for the maker space, called the Fox Forge.  They are working in teams to design and create signs not only for the Fox Forge, but to direct others on how to get there.  Thank you STEM student leadership team.  Don’t forget our Family STEM night coming in March.  STEM student leadership students will help design and run the event, and the whole school will be sharing “student powered project” in addition to our family and friends who share their STEM work.  See you in March for our Family STEM night, on Tuesday the 20th from 6-7 pm.

Robotics is off to a great start and Fall River will host a tournament on January 27th.  Admission is free so come by and watch students collaborate and compete for points and trophies and a chance to advance to state and world competitions.

Thank you for your children!

Ms. Douglass
