Dear parents and guardians,
Our construction starts soon for our new addition and renovations! Construction officially begins March 8 and continues all summer; foot traffic on the north side of the building is affected. During construction, the blacktop and grassy areas between and behind the portables will be closed; if you need to pass between those areas, you will need to use the sidewalk on the other side of the building by the cafeteria instead. Several exterior doors will also be inaccessible during construction. Please watch for Fall River ES emails and newsletters/emails from your child’s teacher or club adviser for changes that affect your child. The following classrooms and before-school clubs have changes to their line-up and/or dismissal plans: all 2nd grade, Carmichael, Carlander, Lexia, STEM, and Primary GT. All areas with inaccessible exterior exits do have new emergency exit plans. Thank you for your patience during this exciting time; we cannot wait to have more classrooms and a safer main entrance!
2nd trimester report cards will be available online through your Infinite Campus log on March 9th. If you signed up for paper copies, they will be sent home that same day. If you have problems accessing your Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please call the front office and we will do our best to assist you. Thank you for helping us save a LOT of paper! If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for partnering with us so all of our students can achieve their best!
Spring Break is coming soon (March 23-April 1), and with it a chance for rest and rejuvenation, whether it be taking time to read together or play a game as a family, experiencing learning by going on a trip, or just getting our bodies out and moving around in the Colorado sunshine. In the meantime, there is a LOT going on at Fall River Elementary! Please continue to check our school calendar on our website to keep track of everything that is going on!
Spring always brings state testing, which this year brings our 4th year of online state tests for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders. Please see this newsletter for detailed information about when these tests occur; testing will occur between April 9 and April 20, followed by make-up tests as needed. We appreciate your continued support of getting students here every day and on time during our testing. Two important reminders about state tests: one, if your kiddo misses a test, they will have to make the test up during later class time; two, if your kiddo is not feeling well, we would rather they make up the test when they can do their best instead of taking it when they are ill. Thank you for your support during this important time—when our kids can show us all what great learners we have at Fall River Elementary!
An important reminder from the office staff to all parents and guardians: if you are calling to leave a message for your child, it is important that we receive that message before 3:10. With around 550 students and the usual end of the day excitement, it is quite challenging to get messages to individual children after 3:10. Please help us ensure the safety of your child after school by getting that information to us as early as possible.
Thank you for having the Courage to Be Outstanding, --Dr. Guthals
