We would like to thank the entire Fall River community for helping to make our restaurant nights such a success! The PTO earned $243 at Texas Roadhouse in October and an record-breaking $916 at Chipotle in November! We will be discussing how best to use this windfall at our next PTO meeting. Two additional community nights are planned for after the new year, so please stay tuned for those. We’d also like to remind everyone of the monthly Fall River night at Nicolo’s on each Late Start day. We appreciate the ongoing support of one of our local busin
We’ve been hard at work learning binary code. We started with learning about the binary alphabet and are expanding that to image compression concepts. It’s amazing at how quickly the students pick up these computer science topics
I would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season!
Hopefully, you’ve taken the opportunity to sign up for Artsonia or have the Artsonia app to see what Fall River artists have been creating. If you have not signed up and would like to, please contact me for information. Here’s what we have been working on in the art studio.
The Preschool students spent two weeks in November studying bread. They baked, experimented, tasted, and described. We wrapped up our study on bread at the end of the month with a celebration with families in our classroom. Bread was shared while children discussed the story of The Little Red Hen and the importance of helping. Children also talked about what ingredients are in bread, the science behind yeast and baking soda, and the tools bakers use. Students were also able to demonstrate their good manners. The children created their own baked goods for our dramatic play bakery.
December is upon us! This means it is time for our annual food drive. We will be running our non-perishable food drive from November 27-December 12th. This is a district wide drive so we are always in friendly competition with our friends at Alpine Elementary. The Principal of the losing school has to deliver a trophy to the winning school during an All School Assembly. We don’t want to have to send Dr. Guthals to Alpine. We also love a little friendly competition amongst the classrooms here at Fall River.
The St. Vrain Valley Schools’ Senior Volunteer Program is once again available for the 2017-2018 school year. The program began in November 2012 to welcome seniors and individuals with disabilities into our schools and provide them financial assistance with their county property taxes. Up to 200 participants will be paid a maximum of 40 hours at $10.20 per hour for a total of $408 between January 2, 2018 and April 30, 2018.
