Hello Fall River Foxes,

I would like to wish everyone a wonderful holiday season!

Hopefully, you’ve taken the opportunity to sign up for Artsonia or have the Artsonia app to see what Fall River artists have been creating. If you have not signed up and would like to, please contact me for information. Here’s what we have been working on in the art studio.

Kinder Fall Tree Torn Paper Collage: artists have been exploring color mixing with the primary colors yellow and red to create orange foliage for their trees. They will then tear paper for the trunk and branches of their trees and assemble it to create a fall tree.

1st grade Fall Trees: artists discussed how leaves produce energy for trees and how trees store energy in their trunks and roots for the winter. We studied tree paintings by Piet Mondrian and how his art became more abstract and simple over time.

2nd grade My House is a Home: artists are exploring the idea of what makes their house a home, they created a circle map to define what makes a house a home and later discussed what their homes look like and the shapes that one might use to create a drawing of it.

3rd grade Printmaking: artists are studying Gyo-Taku printing, the ancient art of Japanese fish printing. They will be transforming their black and white prints into colorful fish environments and learn about the exterior anatomy of fish.

4th grade Shape Shifters/Tessellations: artists have finished their tessellation art; they began by focusing on transforming a geometric shape into an irregular shape that fits together without gaps or overlaps to create a unique pattern design.

5th grade Yearbook Cover Designs: artists have finished working on the Fall River Elementary yearbook cover design. Each student created a cover design for the yearbook; the completed designs will be hung in the halls of the school to be judged by the faculty and staff. The two works that receive the most votes will be on the cover of the 2018-2019 yearbook.

Thanks,

Mr. Kloser
