Students and staff continue to work on collaboration and design across many subjects. Please read a few highlights of what our community is doing in STEM!
Stop Motion Animation
Mrs. Trembly’s class worked with stop-motion animation. They used iPads and had students from the Innovation Center work with them on creating video projects. Mrs. Julien has also worked with stop-motion animation in her work with students.
Family STEM Night brought together members of the community, families, staff and students! There were “Student Powered Projects” displayed, hands-on demonstrations, exploration with some of our un-plugged materials and a chance to peek into our Fox Forge Maker Space. Thank you to all for the support of this fun, informative evening.
Congratulations to three Fall River robotics teams on their qualification for the State Robotics Tournament! Join us March 3 at Trail Ridge Middle School beginning at 10:15 to see our students compete! Thank you to Mr. Medlock and all the parents and students involved in our robotics program! Good luck on Saturday.
Fall River hosted The Fox Rocks Robotics tournament again this year. Students from the St. Vrain Valley School District and surrounding areas met for friendly competition on January 27th. This event is a qualifier for state and world tournaments coming later in the year. Thank you to Mr. Medlock, The Innovation Center, the Fall River Robotics teams and all the volunteers that made our tournament a success!
Students have been hard at work with Computer Science Education Week! Students participated in the Learning Lab, as well as in classrooms. Students have worked with binary numbers, tried Scratch and Scratch Jr. and got to work with Cubelets. There were also unplugged experiences with patterns and algorithms. Thanks to our volunteers, too!
Students will have the chance to experience prototyping and giving feedback on a variety of subjects using HyPars curved building toys for play, education and imagination. We will be working with HyPars in the Learning Lab (formerly known as the library!), in classes and with students in the STEM Student Leadership group. HyPars were represented at our last Family STEM Night and will be with us again for our Family STEM Night in the spring.
